The Brighter Futures Program
The Samaritans Brighter Futures (BF) Program – Newcastle, Lake Macquarie is a NSW initiative providing intensive and preventative support to vulnerable families with young children up to the age of 8 years, where the children are identified as at risk of significant harm in the Newcastle & Lake Macquarie area.
In this partnership NSS delivers the BF program support families through home visits who are experiencing: ► Domestic or family violence► Drugs and alcohol problems► One or both parents suffer from mental illnessSupport provided includes:► encouraging positive parenting► building positive interactions within the family► providing parents with strategies in guiding children’s behaviours► establishing routines with children► advising parents on preparing healthy & inexpensive meals & healthy school lunches for children
