Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme – the Hunter and Central Coast

Funded by the Australian Government

The Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme (ACVVS) matches volunteers with older people who are socially isolated, for the purpose of friendship and companionship. The Scheme operates for people who reside in an Aged Care Facility or live at home and receiving support from a government subsidised Home Care Package (HCP).Any older person whose quality of life could be improved by the companionship of a regular community visitor can be referred to the ACVVS.Aged care recipients come from a variety of social and cultural backgrounds, and community visitors from all backgrounds are welcome.

Volunteering as a community visitor can be a rewarding experience.By befriending an older person, volunteers have a chance to make a positive difference to the care recipient’s life – as well as their own.Anyone interested in becoming a visitor should contact Northern Settlement Services on 0249693399 or email on nss@nsservices.com.au
